Mother Root Ginger — my evening alternative to wine

A proper-feeling alcohol-free drink for winding down. Mother Root suggests soda; my preference is tonic, lots of ice and a nice glass.

I have Mother Root on Amazon subscription because it has become one of my favourite evening treats. Sometimes I want something that marks the end of the day but I don’t want wine — and water feels a bit joyless when I’m after something special.

It’s gingery, fiery and grown-up enough to feel like a proper drink. It’s good with soda, which is how Mother Root suggests serving it, but I prefer it with tonic and plenty of ice.

WHY IT BRINGS JOYIt turns an ordinary wind-down into a little ritual without needing alcohol.

Mother Root is a non-alcoholic ginger aperitif made with apple cider vinegar, blossom honey, ginger and chilli. This is about what I enjoy drinking, not a health claim.
